我不反對大家的翻譯方式，但是我的意見跟大家很不一樣。
作為小說，一個吸引眼球的名字可能給書的銷量帶來翻天覆地的變化，所以有人把《水滸傳》翻譯成「3 woman and 105 man」。翻譯回中文大概是「三個女人和一百零五個男人的故事」。
從學術角度講，這種翻譯荒唐之極，但是從商業的角度講，這是最現實的翻譯方法。「Journey to the West」是美國記者 埃德加·斯諾 的作品，中文名《西行漫記》。
以前曾經有人問過，中國古典名著的翻譯方法，也有人問過「降龍十八掌」怎麼翻譯到英語當中。其實學術上最可取的翻譯方法就是音譯。《西遊記》完全可以翻譯為「Xiyouji」。
樓主的問題如果有出處的話，不妨選擇一個最適合自己的翻譯方法，比如，如過樓主是想出《西遊記》的英文版，不妨放棄這種學術上最可取的翻譯。
