考生面臨的比較普遍的問題就是：
圖裡面的詞彙可能認識的只有一半，碰到這種情況，考生應盡量猜，運用常識和看圖猜詞意。圖裡面可能會給出一定數量的動詞，也可能沒有給出。
具體而言，一般會出現三種情況：
1. 圖詳細＋註解詳細
流程圖中出現過的詞彙可以使用一次，第二次出現的時候盡量換成其同義詞甚至可以是近義詞。但即使猜出了大概含義，找出同義替換仍然比較困難。對此，有兩種解決方案：
1). 「名詞動用」，如果原圖給出了某個詞的名詞形式，在你的作文中可以將其轉變成該詞的動詞形式。同理，形容詞可以換成副詞（通常在該形容詞後加-ly），副詞變成形容詞。比如劍橋真題6 Test 3的範文中：原圖第二個步驟中的「food」, 作者改成了動詞「feed」。
2). 根據「下義詞」，找出其「上義詞」，比如說「furnace」（熔爐）在「玻璃瓶的回收」之類的流程圖中都會出現，我們稱之為「下義詞」（即含義較具體），而其「上義詞」（即概括性較強的表達）可以是「a container」。
2. 圖詳細＋註解簡略
這種情況要求考生把圖片中出現的、而註解中表述比較簡略而省掉的信息運用考生會的表達方式補充出來，尤其注意動詞的使用。比如：「玻璃瓶的回收」這一流程中有個步驟是把碎玻璃倒進熔爐裡面將其融化，圖片畫得較詳細：一個橢圓形的鼎樣容器，上面畫的溫度計顯示融化玻璃的具體溫度數值，燃料是用木炭還是煤炭還是天然氣……但下面的註解可能只有三個單詞：the melting process。顯然，我們不可能只用這三個單詞描述這一步驟，原因很簡單，即考生都熟悉的一個悲劇——圖描述完了，字數沒寫夠！遇到這種情況，建議考生用自己的話把圖表信息補充完整。
3. 圖簡略＋註解更簡略
同樣還是以「玻璃瓶的回收」流程為例，其中一個步驟是玻璃瓶被重塑成新瓶子、並注入相應液體產品後，被卡車送到超市，消費者購買並使用。該步驟在原圖中只出現了兩個名詞——「supermarket」和「customers」。實戰中有相當數量的考生只用一句話說完了這個步驟（比如：These bottles are transported by trucks to supermarkets, and then they would be bought by consumers.）。這種寫法與上面的寫法後果是一樣的——字數必然不夠。筆者建議考生，這類圖出現時，首先需要大家根據生活常識腦補出缺失的信息，然後再進行寫作。此題目中，正常邏輯如下：
卡車送貨到超市——> 工作人員卸貨——> 貨物被送到倉庫——> 員工將貨物擺到貨架上——>消費者購買
如此寫完每個步驟，才能保證流程圖的每個細節都提到了，並且字數充足。希望考生勤加練習。
