He first worked on a newspaper, and then had a job in a bank, when some money went missing from the bank O. Henry was believed to have stolen it. Because of that, he was sent to prison. He wrote mostly about New York and the life of the poor there. People liked his stories, because simple as the tales were, they would finish with a sudden change at the end, to the reader』 surprise.

在答閱讀理解的問題時,首先要做到掌握問題的類型,一般信息類的閱讀理解可以直接從文中找到所需要的答案,而主管判斷類的閱讀理解則需要我們對作者的寫作意圖進行深層次的推理。其次,需要了解題干中的內容和所給的信息,然後有針對性的對文章進行閱讀,這樣才能提高做題的准確性。

3、進行邏輯推理

在做英語閱讀理解的時候,經常會遇到作者主旨表達的不是很明顯的情況,這時候就需要根據文章的內容、通過邏輯推理,分析作者的意圖,從而理解整篇文章想要表達的意義。

1、如果該詞彙是簡單詞匯,則其字面意思必然不是正確答案。

4、尋找時要注意同位語、特殊標點(比如分號,分號前後兩句話的邏輯關系不是形式上的並列就是語義上的並列,也就是兩句話的意思相同,所以可用其中一句話的意思來推測另一句話的意思從而推出所給詞彙含義)、定語從句、前後綴,特別要注意尋找時的同性原則。比如:讓猜一個名詞片語(動詞片語)的意思,我們就向上向下搜索名詞片語(動詞片語)。
