C和D是明显不正确的。 这里只是一个笑话，笑话的内容是说医生如何对新人不礼貌，但是问题是imply，所以应该想得更深入点，笑话里面对新人的不礼貌说明了什么？最后一句：On, that's God, came the reply, but sometimes he thinks he's a doctor。很好地说明了护士门看不惯医生们的自以为是。所以选B

3A。原文：“The potato is also from the New World. Around 1600,the Spanish brought it from Peru to Europe。。。”先说potato是new world来的，然后说spanish从peru带回了potato，所以说明peru是new world。
4C。完全是单词的本来意思，直接得出答案。如果不认识的话，文中也说“people died from hunger ”，也就是食物短缺的意思。

这一句是关键：我并不记得我以后再为这个原因哭过了。。。（意思就是之后他再也没有像刚刚知道要离开故乡的时候那么难过了）

所以第二段描写的都是他对美国的憧憬和希望。。。最后两句的意思是。。我满脑子都在想着这个陌生而神奇的地方。。。我的脑子反而在那是并没有怎么想到这个我永远无法再返回的祖国了。。。
