E. 如何阅读一本原版英文小说

需要三个条件:
第一,自不量力的勇气

有很多人总是觉得自己的英语水平不好,总是觉得阅读英文原版书是自己无法企及的一个高度,其实我要告诉大家并不是这样。如果我一个高中英语满分150分我只能考75分的人能够做到,你们也一样能够做到。

在人生的某些节点上,自不量力也许是更正确的道路。

第二,行之有效的方法

第一步,坚持。

这里讲的坚持是狭义的坚持,什么意思?因为每位作者的文风都不一样,所以在看一本英文原版书的时候,前10%可能是最难熬的,你可能会觉得各种读不懂,但这个时候千万不能放弃。这个时候,哪怕你多翻字典,甚至对照中文译文,只要能看懂并且看下去,就可以(特别是那些你对剧情一无所知的书)。

相信我,大部分书,你把前面的10%坚持过去了,后面等待你的将会是一片全新的天地(如果一本书你看了20%还是觉得完全没感觉,那这本书可能真的不适合你)。

第二步,词汇。

根据我个人的经验,词汇量可以分成4000以下、4000-8000、8000-15000、和15000以上四个级别,每个级别的词汇量适合看的书显然也是不同的(这一点会在下文详述)。有人问词汇量在4000以下是不是就不能看原版书了?当然不是,其实正常情况下一个合格的初中毕业生就可以开始看一些简单的英文原版书。

关于词汇量的提升并不是我这里要说的重点,我想说的是如何在阅读原版书的时候用正确的方法学习单词。我们知道词典和词汇书都可以帮我们学习单词,但是两者都有缺点,都不能满足我们个性化的需要。

我今天要说的算是我多年采用并行之有效的一套方法,下图是我用来学习英文词汇的笔记截图.
这样记录词汇的好处有三:这样记录词汇的好处有三:
第一、嵌入式记忆,不再记忆孤立的单词,而是在情景中增加对单词理解的深度;
第二、每个单词配英文释义和经典例句,增加对单词记忆的同时也提升了对相应作品的理解;
第三、大家可以看到,在每个单词的右上角有frequency和register两栏:frequency指的是这个单词出现的频率是高、一般还是低;而register指的是这个单词的语域是正式、一般还是非正式。这样对写作和口语的提升也是显著的,比如写作时我们尽量要用书面化的表达,口语则刚好相反。
其实除了词汇之外,我们还需要学习一些句法。不过在本文中我就不详述了,今后有机会再另写一篇文章来详细解决这个问题。

第三步,阅读媒介及参考工具。

以前我们总是抱怨资源匮乏,但现在网络上的资源却是漫天飞,只有你不想要的,没有你找不到的。从媒介来看,阅读方式主要分为传统的纸媒书籍和现代的电子书籍。两种方式各有优点,纸质书拿在手中本身就是一种享受,而且更加方便翻页和记笔记;kindle等电子阅读器的话携带更加方便,而且完全百分比的量化更加适合规划阅读。

普通的词前者就可以搞定,而一些难词或者生僻义却只能依靠后者。这两本词典都是全英文的,不过不用担心,就算你只是初中水准,你也可以在前者中看懂你要查的单词的释义。

这两本书我都有纸质版(我超级喜欢前者的纸质版,后者纸质版中的字实在是看了要瞎),也都有电子版(电子版最大的好处就是方便,并且真人原声发音也能助大家的听力更上一层楼)。

第四步,规划及坚持。

没错,看英文原版书也需要合理的规划。如果你每天有大量的时间来阅读,那么你可以给自己定一个比较高的标准;如果你每天的时间非常有限,那么你可以把一本书拆分成多少等份,然后在规定天数之内消灭(这时候kindle的好处就体现出来了,它的百分比量化实在太好用,比如我忙起来的时候就给自己定了每天阅读一本书5%的计划)。

对于我们一般人来说,其实一年能看6本400页左右的原版书籍已经算是非常可以的成就了。这样算的话,就是每两个月看完400页左右,平均到每天的话,就是6-7页。如果我们真的想进步,不妨扪心自问下,每天6-7页的阅读量还算多吗?当然上面说的是最基本的量,大家可以根据自己的需求增减。

最后,也是最重的,就是广义上的坚持。不能我今天兴致来了,看它个30%;明天太累了,看个3%吧;后天又觉得很累,干脆不看了吧。如果是抱着这样的心态,别说是看英文原版书,其它任何事你也都干不成,早点洗洗睡吧。还有,在阅读的初期,我强烈不建议看特别厚的书或者是把一本书分成太多天看完,因为那样你的冲劲会慢慢消散。在这个阶段,你其实迫切需要看完一本完整的书来获得强烈的成就感以自我激励。

第三,明辨是非的眼睛

克拉申的输入理论提到i+1这个概念,什么意思呢?i代表你目前的水平,i+1是你需要输入的水平,当你需要输入的水平比你目前的水平高一些,你才能得到最大程度的提升。这个理论用在阅读英文原版书上也同样适用,也就是说你要挑选一本适合你水平的书来开始你的阅读。怎样把握这个程度,我个人的经验是最好一本书中有70-80%的内容你能看懂,而20-30%的内容你不是很懂。这样不仅你看起来不吃力,而且能够获得最大程度的阅读快感和能力提升。

下面我就上文提到的词汇量的四个阶段分别推荐一些书(负责任的告诉大家这些书我都是看过的):

允许我先吐个槽。我觉得现在网络上的很多阅读书单根本是不负责任,为什么这么说?因为也许那些写书单的人自己压根就没有看过那些书,推荐的要不就是古英语要不就是那种超难的大部头,绝大部分人根本看不下去。好,你装逼的目的达到了,可是结果呢?浪费了很多人宝贵的时间。

词汇量在4000以下:

如果你真的连初中英语水平都达不到,但就是想过一过看英文书的瘾,或者希望能有一个不错的开始,那么,《书虫》系列可能会适合你。严格意义上来说《书虫》系列并不是原版书,它是经过改写的版本,但如果你能看的很溜,也就说明你距离能看真正的原版小说不远了.

F. 现在的中学生为何喜欢阅读英语小说

中学生爱看的英语小说太多了,所以现在觉得很难找到值得去阅读的中文书了,所以开始阅读一些英文小说原著。
我目前是只有两本英文原版的小说,是几年前外国同事送的。

不知道有没有YUYU也喜欢看英文小说的?
但要看英文小说原著的话,有几个问题:
一个是比较贵,
一个是也不是很好买(书店里能找到的英文小说都是那些广为流传的世界名著,可是那些世界名著的中文版小时候就看光了,长大了当然就没有兴趣再去看一遍了),
再一个嘛--书非借不能读嘛,呵呵。
所以,想请问志同道合者,互通有无,若手中也有英文小说,可以互相借来看看也不错

G. 本人有4000单词,求适合我的英语图书,我想读点英语小说或小故事

看原版书的好处就是,你看了几本就能知道,你再也不想看翻译过来的了,有原文的肯定是看原文好,翻过来的就是二次加工,而且对比过就知道,有的翻译,尤其是流行小说的翻译,真是差劲的很。
已经读了10几本,主要是小说类。这里有一点经验:
1.要有一定的基础,起码先过六级,这实在不是什么难事。过托福和GRE的话,基本就没有什么障碍了。否则一边读一边频繁查字典,这是很恼火的。不要觉得应该用读原文的方式学英语,学英语的最好方式是看教材,看新闻,看美剧……。只看原文去学,效率真的很低下。所以我认为看原文不是为了学英语,主要是为了书的内容。
2.软件推荐kindle,因为在平板上查词很方便,资源也很好找,没钱的话也不用专门买kindle电子书,随便买个便宜的平板配kindle软件就好了。另一个是国内的软件,云词,3和4版都挺好,有专门的原著阅读器,查出的单词可以加到生词本,方便复习。
3.一定要读自己感兴趣的内容,即便是读英文色情小说,只要你自己觉得快乐,也没有什么关系,如果感兴趣,搜索literotica。如果你本来连中文书都不读,又何必强迫自己读英文。绝对不要贪图虚荣,硬去啃什么名著,有些名气很大的作品,即便是读中文版,都是褒贬不一的,何必花时间虐待自己,最后读完了还可能什么都得不到。读个大约50页,就知道自己对书的内容感不感兴趣,如果觉得无趣,就应该果断放下。枝上柳绵吹又少,天涯何处无芳草。
4.如果是读非专业书籍,先去看amazon上的畅销书推荐,年度最佳什么的。一般畅销书都是比较有趣,行文又比较流畅,不会晦涩难懂。如果是读专业书籍,又分为和自己专业相关的(那你们自己专业的老师肯定有推荐),和自己专业非相关的(找该领域再版次数最多的书一般不会错)。以上是基于一个假设:我们自己不是什么特殊的牛人,凡是英语国家人民群众喜闻乐见的,我们去看也一样会有乐趣。
5.如果想更流畅的阅读,可以从你喜欢的电影的原文剧本开始,因为看过电影,剧情理解无障碍。改编过电视剧的也是一样(A song of ice and fire系列,电视剧版相当好看),先看剧情,然后看原著,有助于看懂文意,免得自己以为是那么回事,实际是另一回事。

保亭思源实验小学 陈义花 小学英语教学是一门科学,作为一个入门阶段,要想掌握好英语,除了需学习一定的语音,词汇、语法知识外,还得练就扎实地听说能力。在小学英语教学中,主要任务是通过看、听、说、玩、演唱等一系列的教学活动,对学生进行听、说、读、写、等能力的基础训练,激发学生的学习兴趣,培养好的英语学习习惯,并且通过学习一定量的词汇,接触一定量的日常交际用语,培养以听说能力为主的初步交际能力,为进一步的英语学习打好基础。那如何培养小学生的听说能力呢?在这里,我提出了我的几点建议。 一、视听模仿培养良好的听的习惯 小学三年级是英语学习视听说的入门阶段。在第一册课本里没有出现文字,只有五彩缤纷的图片,使学生初学英语时,能集中全部注意力听录音。小学生的听力训练首先要避免枯燥,应采用灵活多样的,学生喜闻乐见的手段进行训练。一些听的练习,可以尽量结合游戏进行,听力训练设计要灵活多变,可以多用图文并茂,学生喜欢的形式,激发学生的学习兴趣,使学生集中注意力,保持良好的状态。例如:在教学单词时,教师不急于叫学生一听就模仿读,而是教师先示范发音,学生边听边看教师嘴形,注意力观察其大小扁,圆及变化情况,做到看明、听清。当教师做手势一、二读了两次后,到了手势三时,全班齐声模仿,这样,发音易到位,模仿效果好。又如在句型,日常交际用语教学时,可以用教师发出指令学生做出相应的动作来训练听的能力。教师发出:a .stand up! b. sit down! C.Turn right/left d. Touch your nose/eye/face/leg学生做出相应的动作,这个练习培养了学生的听力,提高其反应速度。 二、尽量用英语组织教学,培养学生良好的听说的习惯 用英语组织教学可以烘托英语课堂气氛,增强学生的求知欲,提高学生的听说能力。在每次课前教师可跟学生进行free talk , 从简单的日常用语开始。如:每天可问候:Hello! Everyone ,How are you today 学生都可以回答:Fine thank you ;How are you ,Miss Chen 。在每节课前由值日生作英语报告。开始练习时,可用简单的知识内容运用到值日汇报的内容中去。值日生可谈论天气,谈论家庭,或学校,自己的好朋友等等,这些都是训练听说能力及语言表达能力的好素材。 三、利用一切教学媒体,为学生创造良好的听说环境 实物、图片、简笔画、灯片、投影、录象、录音、是英语教学中常用的直观教具,为学生创造一种逼真播的运用英语进行教学的情景,让学生置身于真实的语言环境中,从而产生运用英语的真实需要和激情,并得到一些促进真实交流的帮助,从而使学生更自觉、更有兴趣地参加课堂的交际活动,最大限度地发挥学生说英语的主劝性和积极性。而且,利用电化教具,可以多让学生听地道的英语录音,培养学生听懂地道的英语的能力。让他们在听的过程中能够模仿人家的语音,语调,以防学生出现吞音,丢音的现象。 四、扮演角色。进行会话表演,培养学生的听说能力 把表演带进课堂或经常在课堂上把句型、对话课文编成短剧,让学生表演,把讲台变成舞台,尽量让学生把所学内容,按设定的情景结构演出来,做到尽情结合,使学生得到大量的听说机会。如:三个同学分别叫Sue ,Kate和 Mary ,Sue和Kate是同学,Mary是Kate的朋友,她们在街上相遇,Kate向 Sue介绍她的朋友Mary (叫三个同学上来表演) Kate:Hello ! 4Pollution: a Social Problem
When we read newspapers, we often come across the word pollution. This word was not familiar to the people some decades ago. But now, it is a serious threat to us because.it means the poisoning of the air, seas, rivers and lands, which would do harm to our health.
There are many factories that bring pollution to us. We can not have fresh air in the morning. This is mainly because of the poisonous smoke coming from factories, especially chemical ones. In rivers, seas and oceans, there are instrial wastes. Some factories just throw their wastes into seas or let them flow into rivers. When people drink the water from such rivers, they get poisoned. Besides, there is rubbish from ships and when sometimes an accident occurs in an ocean, oil flows out from tankers.
On land, the accumulation of rubbish in the streets may dirty the city and ruin our health. This is mainly e to the improper disposal of rubbish by people.
If we do mot fight against pollution, surely one day all of us will be killed. Some people like to put the blame on the instrial revolutions. On the contrary, the pollution problem will be solved only with the help of modem science and technology.

5Traditional Teaching Method
Do your teachers still use traditional techniques to teach you nowadays? A revol- ution in teaching techniques is required now. In the past, we just took it for granted that a teacher' s aim was to teach the students all that he knew and solve all the problems for them. Therefore, students could mot judge things on their own under this circumstance. Thus students graally lost the ability to learn by themselves. In addition, they were only equipped with the knowledge that were taught in class and made the same judgement upon every problem which might crop up. Of course, they would find their knowledge not enough to solve practical problems.
So it is time to change the teaching method. A teacher' s goal is to help the students develop not only the ability to learn by themselves but the skills to make judgements on every aspect on their own. It' s not necessary for the students to turn to teachers for help while meeting with difficulties. The first thing is to develop the students' abilities to make sound judgements upon any problem and overcome difficulties.
All in all, the aim of teaching is to liberate, but mot to fetter the students' innate powers of making sound judgements.

To Pull up the Seedlings to Help Them Grow
Once upon a time, an old farmer planted a plot of rice. Everyday he
went to the field to watch the seedlings grow. He saw the young shoots
break through the soil and grow taller each day. But still, he thought
they were growing too slowly. He got impatient with the young plants.
"How could the plants grow faster?" He tossed in bed ring the night and
could not sleep. Suddenly he hit upon an idea. He had an idea not wait
for daybreak. He jumped out of the bed and dashed to the field. By the
moonlight, he began working on the rice seedlings. One by one, he pulled
up the young plants by half an inch. When he finished pulling, it was

With great satisfaction, he went back home. He told his son what he had
done in a triumphant tone. His son was shocked. Now the sun had risen.
The young man was heart-broken to see all the pulled-up young plants
dying.
People now use " Ba Miao Zhu Zhang" to describe the behavior of those
who are too eager to get something done only to make it worse. The idiom
is a bit like the English proverb "Haste makes waste" ------to spoil
things by excessive enthusiasm.

Although more of an investment guru than a management guru, Warren Buffett (born 1930) made his billions (and became the

second richest man in the world after Bill Gates) from the success of the companies held by his investment vehicle, Berkshire

Hathaway, a publicly quoted company. He has described the extent of his involvement in these companies as being limited to

the allocation of capital and people. “Charles T. Munger, Berkshire Hathaway’s vice-chairman, and I really have only two

jobs,” he once said (Charles T. Munger being his long-time closest associate). “One is to attract and keep outstanding

managers to run our various operations. The other is capital allocation.” That includes setting the compensation of the

chief executive.

Buffett is known as “the Sage of Omaha”, after the town where he was born and where he has spent most of his life, and much

is made of his small-town homespun values. He likes to play the ukulele and he plays bridge (with Bill Gates, among others)

in his modest home in Omaha. His one conceit is a corporate jet, but that is second-hand and named “The Indefensible”.

Buffett, however, is not really the small-town boy made good. His father, Howard Buffett, was a stockbroker who won a seat in

Congress when Warren was a boy, and the family moved to Washington, DC, for a while. Then Buffett went to the Wharton School

in Philadelphia, the top business school in the United States for finance and for those heading for the higher reaches of

Wall Street. He left before he completed his course, but finished his studies at New York’s almost equally prestigious

Columbia Business School. From there, in 1951, he started to make his living from investing on the stockmarket, and was

greatly influenced by Ben Graham, who wrote a classic book on investment, “Security Analysis” (1934), and had been his

tutor at Columbia.

Buffett famously avoided the high-tech sector ring the turn-of-the-century dotcom boom and bust, but in recent years he has

suffered from a high involvement with the less-than-stellar insurance instry. Berkshire Hathaway’s annual report contains

a closely observed “letter to shareholders”, written by Buffett, which is a mixture of homespun wisdom and market savvy.

The company’s annual meeting is held in the Q-West centre in downtown Omaha and is attended by as many as 20,000 investors

from all over the world. “We have embraced the 21st century,” wrote Buffett in one of his letters, “by entering such

In June 2006 he gave Berkshire Hathaway shares worth over $30 billion to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the biggest

有一只狗很口渴,他只找到一些空空的水桶,里面没有水。他继续找水。他来到一座小房子前面。房子里住着一个小姑娘。小姑娘拎着只水桶出来了。“她要去打水。”狗想到,并跟在他后面。果然不错,小姑娘来到一口井边,把水桶放入井口,桶里水满了。然后小姑娘回去了。

“水!太好了!”狗叫着跑过来。他想也没想就跳下井去了。

井水真不错。狗可高兴啦,喝了许多水。但是他没法跳出来了。他等了好久,但是没人来。“我饿了,我得出去。”他想着。

这时候一直口渴的山羊到井边来了。他看了看井和这只狗。“这井水好喝吗?”“当然,快下来吧。”狗回答说。于是山羊也跳到井里去了。狗高兴极了,他跳上山羊的背,又跳出了井口。

狗看了一眼山羊,说声“再见”就跑开了。

The Thirsty Dog

A dog is evey thirsty.But he only sees some empty pails.There is no water in them.The dog goes on looking for water.He comes to a small house.There is a girl in it.The girl in it.The girl gose out with a pail.“She gose to a well,”the dog thinks and follows her.The dog is right.The girl comes to a well and puts down the pail,and the pail is full of water.Then the girl goes back to her house.

“Water!Great!the dog says and runs to the well.He jumps into the well without thought.

The water is good.The dog is happy and drinks much.But he can’t jump out of the well.He waits and waits.But no one comes.“I’m hungry now.I must go out,”he thinks.

At the time a thisty goat comes to the well.He looks at the water and the dog .“Is the water good?”the goat asks.“Of course.Come down,”the dog says.Then the goat jumps into the well,too.The dog is happy.He jumps on the goat’s back and jumps out of the well.

The dog has a look at the goat and says,“Goodbye!”Then he leaves.
